Vis Naidoo Chairman

Vis Naidoo was elected unanimously as the Chairperson of Engel Thamizha Kural NPC at the recent elections. A pillar of the South African Tamil community in Gauteng, Vis is currently an entrepreneur in the insurance industry, with a long history of political activism during the liberation struggle. Hailing from the Eastern Cape, and graduating as a legal professional, Vis joined the insurance industry and progressed through the ranks in various private companies, until he left to start his own business, specializing in all aspects of the insurance business for his numerous clients. A fierce proponent of the economic empowerment of the Tamil community, Vis has started many initiatives to rally Tamil businessmen from this community to stand together in mutual harmony to achieve sustainable empowerment, and provide a shining light for future Tamil entrepreneurs to become industrialists in South Africa.

Ms. Phoomoney Naidoo Vice Chairperson:

Pauline Naidoo was elected as the Vice-Chairperson of Engel Thamizha Kural NPC at the recent elections. From the age of 15, Pauline, who currently works in the insurance sector, has been involved in the Tamil cultural environment in South Africa. She has dedicated a large portion of her time, effort and personal life to strive for the promotion of our language and culture in all aspects of contemporary life in Gauteng. Her greatest achievement was the establishment and effective running of a bursary programme for underprivileged and deserving students from the Tamil community, ensuring that a generation of children could achieve their dreams of tertiary studies without the stress of wondering who would pay for it. In addition, Pauline served as President of the Tamil Association on numerous occasions, and has brought her vast experience to our organization. Pauline is a shining example of selfless service to her community and serves as a role-model for Tamil women in South Africa.

Savesh Pather Secretary:

Savesh Pather was elected as the Secretary of Engel Thamizha Kural NPC at the recent elections. Savesh is a decorated former public servant who took early retirement after a long career in the South African intelligence services, having served in Crime Intelligence, SA Secret Service and National Intelligence Agency. An MK veteran, Savesh received his military training in Angola, the Soviet Union and East Germany and actively participated in the armed liberation struggle. He has also trained in the USA, UK and France post-1994, and has two Masters Degrees in Public Management and Security Studies. His passion for his Tamil heritage came from his parents and grandparents who instilled in him a strong belief in his South Indian identity and ancestry, which helps drive his work for our organization and to fulfill the vision of the collective leadership on economic empowerment.

Kavi Pillay Treasurer:

Kavi Pillay was elected as the Treasurer of Engel Thamizha Kural NPC at the recent elections. An Accounting Science graduate, Kavi achieved his prestigious CA(SA), and has worked in various private and government institutions, understanding the energy industry in all aspects in South Africa as well as worldwide. A fierce proponent of economic empowerment of the Tamil community at all levels, Kavi has dedicated his life to bringing meaningful change in the South African economic environment for the benefit of his community. Now in private practice, and a director of several private companies, Kavi brought his strategic thinking to our organization to launch a flagship project that will ensure sustainable empowerment of the Tamil community, in line with international best practices in the financial services industry, culminating in something South Africans of Tamil heritage will be proud of.

Selvyn Dorsamy Public Relations Officer:

Elected unanimously as the PRO for Engal Thamizha Kural NPC at the recent elections, Selvyn is a computer engineering professional who graduated in Canada and returned to South Africa to share his skills and knowledge. Joining his family business specializing in traditional medicine upon his return to the country, he took his vision of alternative healing to a new level by becoming an Ontological Coach and driving the concept to a new generation of people who didn’t understand its importance. He joined our organization to merge his knowledge with the Tamil community and allow them to understand economic empowerment from his vast experience in the field.
